Kings Sign Center Sim Bhullar

Kings watch crowd 1 joomlaThe Sacramento Kings today signed center Sim Bhullar to a contract, according to Kings General Manager Pete D'Alessandro.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Bhullar becomes the first player of Indian descent to sign with an NBA team. The 7-foot-5, 360-pound center was a member of the Kings squad that captured the 2014 Samsung NBA Summer League title in Las Vegas.

Sacramento Guard Ben McLemore is set to host his inaugural Sacramento area youth basketball camp next month.

The one-day SunnyD Ben McLemore Basketball ProCamp will be held from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM on September 6th at Courtside Basketball Center. Participants will learn fundamental basketball skills and have the opportunity to

meet and interact with the guard. Each attendee will receive an autograph from Ben and a team photo with Ben.



Sand Fire Benefit Dinner

The Sand Fire was a devastating event in both El Dorado and Amador Counties, 20 homes were lost and over 47 outbuildings, barns and other structures were destroyed, 2 injuries and 13 cooperating agencies. El Dorado County is coming together to show our love and support for our friends and families who are in need at this time, they are not alone.

Scheduled for Friday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 10 p.m., the Sand Fire Benefit will be held at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds’ Main Lawn.



August is Child Support Awareness Month

Screen Shot 2014-08-06 at 5.33.53 PMGovernor Edmund G. Brown Jr., today, recognized Child Support Awareness Month and reminded noncustodial parents of the critical importance of staying involved with their children.

"Children are our future," said Governor Brown, in a letter. "Supporting our state's children today will guarantee they have a rewarding and productive future."

Children do better when they are able to maintain meaningful relationships with both parents.



Wine for Words Benefit for Placerville Friends of the Library

The compelling, tragic story of the Donner Party—told through the eyes of one of its young survivors—is the centerpiece of the Ninth Annual Wine for Words fundraiser for the Placerville Main Library.

The event, set for Sunday, Aug. 17, is sponsored by the Placerville Friends of the Library and will be held at the library between 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The evening will include wine tasting, catered dinner and a silent auction/raffle and will feature a discussion by guest author Nancy Herman of her historical novel, “All We Left Behind: Virginia Reed and the Donner Party.”



Sacramento Kings Unveil Special Anniversary Logo Celebrating 30 Seasons

30-yrs-logoThe Sacramento Kings today unveiled a special anniversary logo and corresponding video (http://www.nba.com/kings/kings-30th-anniversary) to celebrate the team’s upcoming 30th season in Sacramento (2014-15).

Selected by Season Ticket Holders in an online survey, the logo incorporates the same font and color scheme used by the Kings during the inaugural 1985-86 season until May 22, 1994 when the team switched to the current logo and colors. The script font used in the anniversary logo has been incorporated in jerseys and gear throughout the last 29 seasons.
